What is a Foundry?

foundry is a factory that produces metal castings. Metals are cast into shapes by melting them into a liquid, pouring the metal in a mold, and removing the mold material or casting after the metal has solidified as it cools. The Foundry will be a place where uncertain and malleable students (melted metals) are cast into the perfect “metal casting” (Jesus).  After the metal cools, it solidifies and becomes able (with a biblical foundation) to withstand the onslaught of the secular world and maintain its Christian integrity. YFC believes in providing students with opportunities that help them deepen in their love and understanding for Jesus Christ and for their fellow peers.  The Foundry is a quarterly gathering which is intended to serve churches in many ways.

So...why go to the Foundry?

1) The Foundry will serve as a place for students to worship through music. We believe that young people worship God through a variety of ways and the expression of music is no exception.

2) The Foundry will be a stepping stone for every student to learn more about the person and work of Jesus Christ. The Foundry will serve as a place for students to learn more about their own culture and how the work of Jesus Christ on the cross changes everything for everyone.   The Foundry will deal with different questions that students have about Christianity.  Ultimately, all of these questions are grounded in one bigger question, “why and how can I trust God with my life?” We will address issues such as is God real? Can I be confident that Jesus Christ really lived? Is the bible reliable? Is it possible to have a relationship with God? The Foundry will be a place that gives reasonable answers from scripture about the person of God.  The Foundry will be a place that embraces every student so that regardless of whether a student considers themselves a Christian, religious, or irreligious in any way they will learn more about the reality of God.

3) The Foundry will be a place for churches to discover the desire and needs of young people in Grand Forks and reach out to those needs.  Students will be given the opportunity to indicate their desire to 1)connect with a youth group 2)learn more about Jesus 3)find a mentor 4)become involved in a Christian, youth, community action group 5)prayer group etc.

4) The Foundry will be a place for the local church to get a glimpse of the larger church. Although churches and denominations may disagree on a host of issues we understand that every believer is united by a common faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ. This unity through Christ is reason to worship together, sing together, and fellowship together.  To see YFC's statement of faith which shows what we believe are uncompromising, foundational doctrinal issues Click Here.
