"What are ways I can volunteer and build my future?"
There is a joy that can be found when we give ourselves away to others. There is also a hope that can be built when we begin to believe that we have a future. Lastly, loneliness disappears when we come together in authentic relationships to serve others. I remember a couple weeks ago, one of our youths had asked me, "What are ways I can volunteer and also build a resume for my future?" Not every youth has an easy time with school or even believing in themselves. I was so glad that we could be a part of this youth's life, and believe in who God has made him to be and His plans for him; I am glad we could encourage, guide, and be someone that this youth could trust. This youth along with 8 others volunteered at the GF Run 5k on Friday, Aug. 23rd to provide water to racers and encourage them as they ran by. This group also decided to go one step further and help other volunteers clean up after the race was over. We provide opportunities like this because Jesus calls us to serve others in His love and truth that are around us. We provide opportunities like this because we believe that anyone can serve, and that God has a plan for each of our lives. We provide opportunities like this because God uses them to open up our hearts to Him and provide healing to us and others. Thanks to all who volunteered for this event!
